News, From The Margin is a digital newsroom specializing in community journalism that delivers culturally relevant stories and fosters civic engagement through diverse media platforms. We are committed to illuminating the realities of underserved people, fostering genuine conversations and amplifying collective dreams.

News, From The Margin was launched in 2019 in Las Vegas, NV, by Naoka Foreman. Before entering mainstream news in 2022 at The Nevada Independent, Naoka sought to address critical news gaps in Southern Nevada and continues on that mission.

 

While employed, she quickly blazed a trail that few can claim. She catalyzed a community news event that led to a synergistic collaboration between two respected news organizations in Nevada, Vegas PBS and The Nevada Independent. According to attendees, the initial event spurred a conversation about the Historic Westside that had not been addressed in the news in at least 25 years.​

In a short time, Naoka earned several awards: 2023 Sister of The Year from The Stretch For Change Foundation
